Apple launched the iTunes Songs Retailer and the 3rd generation of the ipod on April 28, 2003. The 3rd generation ipod featured a distinct handle scheme than the earlier variations of the transportable New music player, but more recent variations of the ipod no lengthier use the very same controls. As a result, the method for turning off a 3rd generation ipod is diverse than any other generation of the system.
Find the "Play/Pause" button on the front of the 3rd generation ipod. The "Play/Pause" button is the 3rd button from the left in the best row of buttons, and has a ">||" symbol on it.
Push and maintain the "Play/Pause" button until finally the LCD display turns off. Pressing and releasing the button swiftly does not turn off the ipod.
Press any of the ipod's buttons to turn the unit on once again.
